Am I the only male member of this site? Obviously, this site is for women, but the stories are so good, the writing is so good, and I don’t want to miss any of it.
Somehow or other, I ran across another Divine Caroline story about why one of the writers chooses to live in San Francisco. That was my story too, so I read further. I was given the gift of the story about going to church to sing a solo. That story also sounded so much like my story. So, here I am. I expect to check in often. I’m old, now; in my sixties. When I was young, the slight matter of gender would’ve been a big issue. I would not have joined this Web site. But, thanks be to God, we now live in an entirely different world.
The social changes of the past forty years have been astounding. For me, it all began when I started living in San Francisco in 1970. I’m a gay man. That’s relevant because that has given me a taste of what it’s like to be second-class: a woman or black or … being gay has enabled me to experience real life with all kinds of people, both women and men. I hope it has made me less judgmental and more forgiving.
Well, most of the time, anyway.
