What’s the Best Gift You’ve Ever Given or Received?

The best gift I've ever been given was a trip to Jamaica. The thing that made it so special was that it was a honeymoon and came with a great husband.

I've been blessed many times throughout my life, but the most impressive moment came 7 years ago, when I was still a university student, paying high tuition fees and living on a small merit scholarship. I remember I had to visit the university cashier's office every three months to fulfill my financial obligations. That particular December I simply couldn't produce the whole sum. I'd been looking for a job for a long time, without success. Ashamed, I still went to the cashier's to respect the submission deadline. When she saw I was missing 50 dollars, she immediately opened her purse, fetched a bill and added it to my money. With tears of surprise and gratitude in my eyes, I promised I would return it to her as soon as I could. But she wouldn't even hear about that. Moreover, a couple of days later she showed up at my campus room door carrying a beautiful Christmas tree, a bag of decorations and one of food. I will never forget the gift of love I received from that modest angel of God.

It seems trivial, but as a teen in the 80's I longed for a phone for my own room. I didn't care if I got anything as long as I got a phone for Christmas. That year, there was a box under the tree that was shaped just like a phone box. Of course I just could not wait and while my parents were gone I got a knife and slit the tape, opened the gift, saw that it was a purple phone, jumped and danced around the house, got the tape and taped over the slit tape and thought Christmas eve would never get here!!
