Jenna Bush’s Untelevised Wedding: Love and Politics

By: Jill Vejnoska (View Profile)

You think it’s tough being president of the United States? Try planning a dream wedding.

Some unforeseen glitch doubtless will strike Jenna Bush’s wedding. Maybe the crowned heads of two feuding countries will unexpectedly show up. Or, worse, two feuding great-aunts. Ultimately, though, it won’t matter one bit. Because when you get right down to it, it’s what the couple is doing—not how—that counts. They’re entrusting each other with their hopes, dreams, and, yes, their love. And at that moment when they walk off into the proverbial sunset together, even the worst curmudgeon would be hard-pressed not to feel all’s absolutely right with the world.

Now, more than ever, that’s must-see TV in America.

Especially the part where Jenna and good old whassisname drive away in a tiny clown car!

Ditto with the other responder response to this. For me I'm all for this because its much better to have both a public/private then all public/private one.

The Bush wedding broadcast blackout was one of the few actions taken by GW during his administration that I applaud. What was exhibited for the public’s consumption was a clear lesson in the distinction between wealth and power. If Britney Spears and Angelina Jolie had the power to shoot down paparazzi helicopters and jail unwelcome media vultures, they’d quickly eliminate their unending problem with paparazzi stalkers.
