Push-Ups

By: Evelyn Glover (View Profile)

It feels strange that I’m writing this story, but it is amusing. I’m twenty-eight and have an eleven-year-old and nine-year-old, both boys. The oldest weighs more then me and will definitely be taller then me. I’m a young mom who wants it all and is willing to take the risks to get it.

I have my own company and I go to school full time. I have just managed to have the boys for a couple of weeks during the summer. I finally moved into my own place, have the bunk beds up and the Xbox. I want to be a good mom but they really push it sometimes. So I have come up with a solution: drill sergeant mom. If they say stuff that is not liking to anyone, I make them do push-ups.

One afternoon when this was taking place, my oldest asked me why I didn’t just spank them. My response was because I didn’t want them to laugh at me. I’m 5’2” and 134 pounds; my oldest is almost taller then me and outweighs me by ten pounds. He is really sweet, they both are, but we all have our moments.

I must say, I wish I had a manual on what to do and what not to do. Luckily I have a life couch that helps me, but sometimes I have to put myself in time out because I don’t trust myself on not freaking out and losing my cool. I love my kids and I don’t want to hurt them. I only hope they feel the same. There are so many messed up families and people. I only want the best for them. I’m wondering if the push-up routine is really the best bet or should I just beat them … HAHA. Anyways thanks for listening to my story.
