Blowing Off Some Steam

By: Holly Burleson (View Profile)

I haven’t written in a while but I need to let off some steam.

Some of what I want to blow off steam about is in one of my blog posts at under the tittle “I am a Christian.” So you may want to go back and read that one.

To update it, my mom and stepdad are up in New York City with my stepdad’s brother helping him clean and stuff because he wants to move down here (no comment on that). Now it’s just me and my brother, and he can be annoying. I mean, I try to do things like fix dinner for us, but when I ask what he feels like eating most of the time he says, “I don’t know, I’ll look around later.” And then one time after saying this, while I was waiting passionately in my room, he cooked himself something but did not cook for me and didn’t even tell me he had done so. And I really can’t say anything because he is the one working and paying the bills the best he can.

And while he is working I am home alone with nothing to do but feed the inside animals, or watch TV or movies, or read, or play on the computer. That’s because it’s a bit too complicated for me to go anywhere now. I mean, with my mom and stepdad driving one vehicle to New York, and my brother using the other to go to work, and my car is setting in the yard with two flat tires and no insurance. So right now, there is not much of a way for me to go anywhere. I am pretty much a hermit in this house, which makes it hard for me to get a job or anything else.

I did try to fill out a bunch of applications when my mom and stepdad where still here. But most of the places ended up telling me that their applications were online, which I later did when I got on my computer at home. The couple that I did do on site looked like they where a promising start. At Wendy’s, a manager was doing interviews and things while I was there. At Sonic, we asked a girl if they were hiring and she said that she thought that they were getting ready to soon. And at Hardy’s, it seemed even more promising. When we asked, they said that they where looking at applications that day and doing interviews soon. Then the manager that I gave my application to told me him to call him Monday. When I did, some girl picked up and said that he was busy and to call back the next day (not later that day but the next day. What was up with that?) and that he might want me to come in for an interview at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. But the next day was my birthday and I was out in town with my friend and didn’t get a chance to call. I stayed at her house that night and ended up getting up early so that I could call them to see what was up and say why I hadn’t called. He was busy again and they said he would call me back and he never did. Anyway, now that my mom and stepdad aren’t here, like I said, I don’t think I could get anywhere.
