The Love of God

I am reading this wonderful book called Come Away My Beloved. It is teaching me along with the Bible about the love of God for us. I have learned so much about the depths of His love and how much He wants us to trust in that no matter what we go through. We may feel He has forsaken us when we do not “feel” His love but it is always there. He sent His Son to reconcile us to Himself. The Lord wants us to focus on Him and lean on Him.

He is devoted to us. He is dedicated and will forgive us even we feel unforgivable or unlovable. He foreknew before the foundation of the world all about us and loves us anyway. He wants us to spend time with Him and study His Word. In these times of many different voices we need to “listen” to Him through His Word. The Bible is proof of God’s love because He gave us basic instructions before leaving earth. He did not leave us clueless as to what He expects of us. He does not want us weighted down with our burdens. He wants us to come to Him with even the slightest things that concern us. Rest on His Breast and lose yourself in Him.

I remember times when I was indifferent to the love of the Lord. How sad He must have been knowing all of the sinful situations I would get into and could have avoided if I just rested in His love. The hymn writer says it best. Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. This God who hears the smallest prayer loves for us to talk to Him. He loves us more than we can even fathom. We are going to be with Him for all eternity and He will give us more than we can ever ask or think. Thank Him for His steadfast love and everlasting security.
