The Naked, Sacred Vulnerability of Quiet Prayer

By: WeeklySpirit Pyles (View Profile)

I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine about how we find quiet time in the midst of our busy and active lives. Both of us talked about stillness and silent moments (even if they are brief moments) as ways to center our lives in God. We also talked about the sacredness of silence as a place where God holds our vulnerability in deep, abiding love.

During our conversation, I had this insight about quiet and silent prayer: quiet is the threshold moment of moving from a naked vulnerability to a sacred love with God. We must be willing to take the risk to sit in the quiet and trust that God knows us full well where everything about us is exposed. We are naked before God, and we are called to trust that this place of quiet is a safe place of sacred, holy love with God. Quiet is intimate prayer at its best.

Where is that place of quiet for you? Where do you find moments of stillness and quiet in your day? Go there, and go there often with God.

Blessings this day and have a great week!
