Moving at the Speed of Car

By: Ashley (View Profile)

With the cost of gas recently sky rocketing a good amount, what better way to save it then driving with your windows down instead of the a.c?! You have never truly smiled until you “car surf.” It’s simple, roll down your driver’s side window all the way, or open up your “sun” or “moon” roof (if you’re lucky enough to have one!). REACH OUT. Press down on the gas. Slowly, open your hand, feel the air rushing through your fingers, the pressure on your fingertips. Feel the power, feel the thrill, feel the motion of the wind. Just feel. Contentment sliding through your fingers...contentment, whipping past you at sixty miles an hour...

I hate to burst this beautiful bubble, but driving with the windows down or sunroof open actually causes a large amount of air friction that uses up MORE gas than simply driving with the AC on.

I hear you Ashley! It really is a different experience to drive with the windows open. I've just recently rediscovered this after what seems like years of forgetting to open the windows. No AC means less emissions into our delicate atmosphere so when we went upstate this weekend, we were ac-free for the 3 hours there and back. It just felt sooooooo good to hear and feel the country air whipping around in the trees and whipping around in the car. I had a full head of curly hair when we finally stopped the car!
