Beauty from the Inside Out: Releasing Stubborn Skin Problems

You take good care of your skin, keep it clean and hydrated, and try to eat a well-balanced diet. Even so, you still may be dealing with breakouts and other stubborn skin problems.

“There are some elusive skin problems that no one can figure out how to get rid of,” said Susan Ciminelli, author of “The Ciminelli Solution” (Harper Collins). Susan says she got into the beauty business (her Susan Ciminelli Day Spa is in Manhattan) because she suffered from severe skin problems growing up in a dysfunctional household.

After years of searching for a solution for herself, Ciminelli says she eventually discovered that it was her own negative emotions that were at the root of her troubles.  “Where you break out on your face is a reflection of what’s going on in your body,” she said, adding that there’s an area of the face that correlates to organs in our body. When one or more (of our organs) is out of balance, skin problems will appear in various areas of the face.

My trouble spot is my nose. So, Ciminelli suggested that I could avoid breakouts there if I ‘cleaned my heart.’

“Love yourself more. See if you’re holding a grudge.” She then went on to suggest that I should meditate with the color green to open my heart chakra (the energy center between the breasts), then bring in the color pink to heal it. She said doing this would even improve my self-esteem. So, I tried it and actually, up until last week when I suffered some emotional drama, my nose had been clear of breakouts.

“Just increase your positive energy flow and let go of negative energy,” is advice Ciminelli says she often gives to her clients. When giving facials, Ciminelli uses guided color meditations and places crystals and other stones on the chakras (energy centers) of the clients she’s giving facials to.

Ciminelli also says our skin would also improve if we followed the diet plan of some Europeans.

“The typical Mediterranean woman ages so gracefully and beautifully.” Ciminelli says having staples in your kitchen such as olive oil, fresh herbs, and lean cuts of meat could lead to a healthier lifestyle, and more radiant skin.
