Blisters be damned. Thursday I was delighted to trade in PlayDoh and swing sets for an afternoon in high heels with the grownups. I snagged an invite to the Cynthia Rowley fashion show. Thanks to a PR pal, I had great seats to see the action. I spotted Julia Stiles, Jill Hennessy, and Tatum O’Neal seated across the runway. After the show, I sported two wicked wounds from my 3" boots—ah well, anything for fashion. Now I’m back to cool mommy flats, but before I run off to share more fashion picks for right now. I’ll share what I saw for next spring.
The mood was subdued. Perhaps that is because everyone is being hit hard in NYC now that Wall St. is in shambles. The collection was conservative; skirts were longer and cleavage was minimal. Rowley collection had a few notables:
- 3/4 sleeves, fitted to the elbow
- black netting
- shift dresses
- modern cutouts
Now back to fall—if you want to know my take on fall trends, I see:
- gray as a key color
- shoes: thick heels are back, especially on boots
- tweed is important
- shots of jewel tones
- knits are big
- bold neck treatments for sweaters
