I’ve Thought

By: Mark Roddey (View Profile)

I’ve thought ... in the hope that I will enlighten others

With the knowledge I’ve gathered from my journey through life.

I’ve thought ... therefore, I exist.

I exist to explore the unknown

Regions of Earth and the inner sanctum

Of the mind’s light and dark zones

Of dreams and nightmares of the night.

That dark night deep in the pit of no return.

An endless, timeless, formless, mindless

Place of the sane and insane

Trying to escape themselves ...

Trying to forget the evil fears that lurk just beyond

The mind’s conscious state of grace.

I’ve thought ... in order to defeat the evil

That roams this bountiful, serene green domain

Of human bliss—Of human need.

Though, our worldly garden has turned into a cesspool

Of greed, murder, famine and war.

Oh, God!

’Tis a never-ending succession of war.

When will we find peace?

Will man ever show mercy toward his fellow beings?

Will humanity ever be humane again?

I just want to live and let live ...

Am I asking for too much, Lord?

I’m waiting for an answer ... right here, right now!
