Dark Knight Eclipse of the Sun

By: Montgomery Poe (View Profile)

Bold, brilliant, intriguing, enthralling and unrelenting! The sun, the moon, and all the stars line up in Dark Knight and the sun has been eclipsed by the alignment. From the story to its direction; from its costumes to the make-up and music, there is never a dull moment. Gotham City has revealed the underbelly of humanity as never before. And it's not pretty. It's not a carnival. It's not predicable. It is deep, thoughtful, provoking and illuminating.

Explosive action meets dramatic performance. And though every performance is on queue, Heath Ledger is literally stunning. His descension into the character is over the top. I found myself laughing uncomfortably or inappropriately and identifying with the maniacal joker. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman are simply superb! They are the frosting on the cake and oh how delicious. I can't wait to see it again.

Is the Dark Knight a success, because of Ledger’s death? Some people have said that the movie blatantly played on the symbolism of 9-11 with the poster, some say it's a great movie, some say heath ledger played his best role. What do you think?
