What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

My first concert was Public Image Ltd. at some rank hole in DC. I was thrilled to be out and about so late, but I felt decidedly un-punk surrounded by all the (slightly) older hipsters... Being young is painful sometimes, huh?

Oh,,, we're talking years ago but I think it was "America" and I was just a young teen. I remember smelling pot right behind me. I on't even like cigarette smoke.

The first concert I went to was to see the Statler Brothers. I went with my aunt and uncle. It was in the early 80s.

I took a date to Bon Jovi when I was in high school.....these tickets set me back almost $200 because they were right up front near the stage. Well, she was thrilled but after the show, she left with some roadie from the band.....let's just say at school the next week, she had everyone calling her some very nasty names & no longer had me as her boyfriend. Sure hope that one night thing was worth it.

My first concert was Yes in the round. I was fun to be in the throng.

I've never been to a concert before.

My first concert was Chris Isaac in 1995. I had never gone to any concerts until I met a wonderful guy in college (now my husband). Together now we have gone to several and always have a great time! :o)

My first concert was back in 1963. I went to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York and saw the Beach Boys perform. We sat in the first row of the balcony...great seats, and screamed our heads off! I've been to many concerts over the years, but I'll always remember that first one.
My first real buy the ticket go to the arena without the folks was when I was 15
to see the most awesome group Earth Wind & Fire. It was an amazing experience of sight and sound. I was also exposed to a few adult activities that occur during concerts - lol.
I can still imagine that stage with the elevator up action and smoke and the strong brass and percussion that filled the air. When I hear their songs on the radio now I can still go back to that wonderful evening in my mind.

My violin teacher took me to a symphony concert and I loved it.
