What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

My first concert was Billy Joel, loved the music and my parents thought it was mellow enough to allow me to go.

My first concert was NSYNC and it was awesome. My friend got the tickets for her birthday gift and she invited my sister and I. It was great to see them live and just being in the audience was a great feeling. The concert was filled with a lot of energy and I had a blast!

My first concert was Seals & Croft when I was maybe 12. I've always been a huge music lover and that just reinforced it for me. I loved it and have gone to hundreds of concerts since. From Gordon Lightfoot to the Rolling Stones and everything in between!

I wasn't allowed to go to concerts in high school, and I finally got to hear Journey after I was out of grad school and I had a blast! Probably more fun than I would have had in high school, because I was SO glad to be there!

My first big concert outside of a county fair or amusement park was Cher in Salt Lake City. It was her farewell tour and the diva sang the oldies and new in magnificient costumes. I never saw hair change color so much in my life. To top it off Cyndie Lauper opened for her and walked up the steps right next to me. I was in heaven!
