What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

As important as music is to my life, and as much as I love it, I have never been to a real concert. No, I am not a youngster -- I am a senior. How sad is that? Thanks for the chance to win!

My first concert was Ike and Tina Turner. I was actually working the concession stands, but snuck into the concert for some of it. I was all of 15 and I really didn't know what to expect. Tina was amazing, I couldn't believe a person could move that fast for as long as she did. This being held at a U. of MI. facility there were lots of students. Back in the 70's meant students with marijuana. I came home from work and my mom had a fit thinking I was smoking dope

My first concert was Foreigner my friends parents had to drive us. It was so much fun I don't think I really cared about the music but I went cause my friends wanted to go and I was so glad I did. From then on I never turned a concert down sometimes I learned I liked groups after I saw their concert I went not even knowing what they sang.
Concerts were attended by my son and he told my all about his first Bon Jovi concert that had the theme "You can go home again!". My son has died without coming home again. VISIT YOUR MOTHERS WHILE YOU CAN.

My first concert was Elton John at the Hollywood Bowl. I always practiced playing his songs during the four years that I took piano lessons, and my deepest wish was to see him perform live. I was thrilled when my boyfriend surprised me with tickets to the performance.

My first concert was The Judds and I loved every minute of it! I was pretty much in the nosebleed section but that meant I could sing along and not get people around me mad at me. They sang awesome and I still love their songs to this day!
