What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

First concert I went to was when I was eighteen, I just graduated High School back in '88. My entire family: mom, dad, brothers, aunts , uncles, cousins all went to Jones Beach and saw The Beach Boys (with John Stamos on drums) ,and opening for them was Chicago. We had a ball. It was the best.

My first concert was the Michael Jackson Thriller Tour! This was in 6th grade. My best friend Cindy got the tickets for her birthday. We both wore white gloves on our left hand (right hand? can't remember) that we decorated with rhinestones. During the concert, we went to the restrooms and saw a bunch of trailers outside that area and we thought we could lay in wait for Michael. We snuck under the first trailer and we waited there for what seemed like forever! We never saw anyone, not even security, so we figured it must not be where Michael's trailer was. We should have figured it wouldn't have been that easy!

I'm not sure I remember my first concert, but it may have been elton john. He was very good and actually seemed to care that we were enjoying the music.

My first concert was Led Zeppelin when I was 15 (way back in 1976.) We were on the main floor, just inches away from the stage and it was crazy! My biggest souvenir from that concert ended up being my date (who is now my hubby) as we have been together ever since.

My first concert was Huey Lewis & the News. I was 15, and my dad took me. We were surrounded by pot smokers, but to this day, I don't think my dad realized he got a contact hight.
My first real concert was Hall and Oates. I went with my mother ( I was only 12). It was a lot of fun.
