What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

My first concert was supposed to have been to an Elvis concert in Greensboro, NC, but he died just previously to it.

Fast forward to 1982 to Greensboro, NC. I went to visit my old bpyfriend from college and his new wife (talk about awkward)! We went to see REO Speedwagon. I don't remember who opened for them. It was a really good concert, but I could not hear for days because our crappy seats were right in front of a big speaker.

My first concert was when I was five years old, my mother took me and a friend to see David Cassidy! I remember being disappointed that he talked too much, all I wanted him to do was sing!

My first concert was a Loretta Lynn concert in Minneapolis ages and ages ago---at that time I wasn't even a country music fan--I just went to be with the "in" crowd--but it was a lot of fun.

My very first concert was the Osmond Brothers at the Ohio State Fair. I couldn't believe the screaming girls and how they were just clawing at the fence to get in. It was kind of scary. I was probably 12 or 13.

Honestly, I am trying to remember my first concert. I can only remember being taken to orchestra concerts as a child and there were some Christian concerts at my church.

My first concert was Cyndi Lauper, oh so many years ago. It was my first intro to beer in a milk carton and the smell of burning green plants. I remember a little boy with a rose was thrown on stage by his parents, poor guy - - but Cyndi was cool about it.

Waaaaaaaay back in the day it was the Boss in a little sleazy bar when I was underaged and partying like a madchickie. He was not the headliner, just came in and the band asked him to sit in and he did.
