What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

My first concert was Neil Young in the 80's. He sat on the stage alone and played an acoustic guitar and an harmonica.
Link park was my first and probably the best

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers some time in the early 80's. My father bought me and my friend tickets for my birthday. It was way out at the Coliseum (which is gone now) and I remember sitting in that line of cars trying to get into the parking lot before the concert. Our seats weren't the best but my friend and I had a fantastic time dancing to all the songs. Good thing Dad said I didn't have to go to school the next day because getting out of the parking lot was a nightmare. As we were waiting to leave, the guy behind me "tapped" my father's car. There was only a scratch and the rest of the way home, I was in a panic thinking he was going to kill me and that would be the last concert I was ever going to attend. I was wrong; he took a look at the bumper, gave me a hug, and said it was no big deal and he hoped I had a good time. I did spend the money and bought a concert t-shirt that night and I kept it for years until it was mostly threadbare.

I think my first concert was the Kinks. It's all kind of blurry, but I do remember just dancing and dancing and having a great time!

My very first concert was to see Chicago. I loved them so much and still do and it was magical. I saw them again three years ago with Earth Wind & Fire and the magic was still there. Thank you!

I went to see the Beach Boys in 1965. I had to hand polish the wood floors for my folks to give the money to go see them. Oh, it was a night to remember!

Oh, my first concert was Rod Steward at the PNE in Canada. It was awesome!
