What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

My first concert was AC/DC in Karlsruhe, Germany when I was 15. What a ride! Convincing my parents to let me go was the first task. My dad was military and we were stationed in Idar-Oberstein...5 hours from the venue. Luckily there was a military sponsored tour bus to the show and they figured I'd be safe enough. Besides, I was a pretty independent kid and they knew I could handle myself. But wow, the show was amazing! HUGE cannons! Angus Young doing his Jailbreak solo. Dokken as the opening act! I couldn't hear for days after...it was awesome!

My first concert was Ratt, with the opening act of Bon Jovi, in approximately 1985. My friends and I were all about 16, and in love with the band members. Unfortunately, the stipulation my parents made when allowing me to go to the show was that my DAD had to come with us. So, yes, I watched a Ratt concert with my Dad.

My first concert was in 1979. I saw the Beach Boys at Blossom Music in Cleveland. We had Lawn seats and came with 12 people who all worked at Cedar Point. Being my first concert I was paying attention to the music while eveybody else was drinking. Well towards the end of the concert I decided to start drink and litterally jugged a gallon jug of rum and coke I brought. Needless to say I got smashed. When we were leaving I accidentally climbed a fence by were we parked the car and these cows and bulls started chasing me. Needless to say I never drank that much at concert again.

My first concert was in 1995 and I went to see Dream Theater at the Birch Hill in NJ, The only problem was I just had major sinus surgery 3 days before so I had a swollen nose, black eyes, and a piece of gauze taped on my nose to catch the blood and drainage. I went with my boyfriend at the time and wasnt feeling well but I couldnt miss the concert. When i was standing against the wall when the band was playing, a bunch of people came up to me and asked me if i was okay and was giving my boyfriend dirty looks thinking he hit me or something LOL. I will remember that concert for the rest of my life.

My first concert was the rock band Kiss. All the sounds and special effects was mind blowing. I rocked for two hours with people who knew how to rock. I lost my hearing for awhile because we were just too close to the dstage lol
My parents took me to my first concert-it was Fleetwood Mac and I was 9 years old. I was like the only kid there lol.
