What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

I've never been to a concert in my life. I'm not a fan of loud noises and huge crowds. Yeah, I'm a weirdo, lol.

Elvis! My husband didn't want to go, but to appease me he went along. After a magnificent show, as we were leaving the showroom he and many others were saying they would go see the show again. Truly amazing show!

Bob Segar and the Doobie Bros. Gosh I was 12, me & step sister went: parents dropped us off, we were so exited the whole way there. I smoked a little pot for the 1st time and was soooo stoned when folks picked us up. We couldn't even talk We got in BIG trouble!!!!

My first concert was the Doobie Brothers. I was very young, like 12 or 13. The stadium was a cloud of pot smoke. I remember the energy of the crowd and the great music!! Thanks for the giveaway!

I won tickets from a radio station to hear Karen Carpenter sing in the New Haven,CT Coliseum. It was a big deal because I didn't have much money and my best friend and I went and had a wonderful time.

I hate to admit but the truth is, I have never been to a concert! In fact, my daughters just recently bought me a ticket to see Neil Diamond in September so that will be my very first.

I got to go to a Grateful Dead concert because my boss had tickets but something came up at the last minute and she couldn't go. She was NOT a happy camper, but I glommed the free tickets!

My first concert that I can remember clearly was Alanis Morissette, it must have been 1995 or 96? I think it was my first year of high school and I went with three friends, I remember feeling so awesome because we were allowed to go alone. We went crazy, and I had memorized the whole CD of Jagged Little Pill and I sang along to every song, every lyric. The venue was packed and I remember being hit on by some questionable guys. The whole vibe of the place was really laidback and it was so much fun.

Many, many years ago, when we were just young teens, a friend's mom took several of us to see . . . Ricky Nelson. (I guess you do always remember your first time.) It was great fun, but none of us were real "fans", we just wanted to go to a concert.
