What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

For sure not my first concert because I go waaaaay back but I remember going to see Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and at the last minute Dolly backed out and they substituted Ray Charles. Talk about two differen styles of music. But I must admit they were both great.

I barely remember it. It was one of those multi-band concerts headlined by BNL. I remember enjoying it, but that's hardly "vivid".

My first was on my 17th birthday. My brother took me to see Meatloaf in New York. Great memories. Thanks for this fun giveaway.

Ac/DC was the first one for me and there were many many more after that. Back in the day when you could get a ticket, a tour shirt and get wasted for 20 bucks..lol

The Black Sabbath Reunion Tour in 1999 with Ozzy! It was the greatest concert ever. I took my then girlfriend (she's my wife now)! Her favorite singer has always been Ozzy, so I surprised her with tickets for Valentine's Day. We had such a great time together, and it's a great memory to look back on.

I was a student at an Indian Music School in No. California. In my first month at the school, Santana walked in and gave us a private concert. I swooned.

Saw ZZ Top at the old Atlanta Fulton stadium in 77. I think The Marshall Tucker Band opened for them. I remember that it was hot and loud. I saw several people being taken out on little stretchers.

My best concert experience was winning a trip to Melbourne, Australia, to see Coldplay in concert. It was totally worth it to fly all that way from the East Coast to see them - they were beyond awesome!

Eddie Money w/ 38 Special. I was 11 and wondering why the place smelled funny. I later learned what that funny smell was.
