What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

The giveaway ended June 27th, but you can still add your story to this chit chat. Look for more giveaways and stand by for an announcement about our winner.

My first concert was one of Willie Nelson's. It was great until everyone lit up, started screaming and clapping. I heard hardly anything and felt sick from all the pot smokers. At least I knew Willie was in the room!

Many moons ago, I attended my first concert. In the mid 1970's, a carload of friends hunkered down for an all nighter at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando Florida for the concert of a lifetime. The venue included Bob Segar, Kenny Loggins and Fleetwood Mac. Wow! Who could ask for more? Although it was not Tom Jones, I was ready to give up my panties before the night was over. As we climbed the stadium stairs to our assigned seating, we patiently waited for the concert to start. Two rows below us was a couple who had other plans for the night. They pulled out a huge blanket over and around them. The movement and sound radiating beneath the blanket was inticing to hormonal teenagers! On occasion they came up for air. When the couple decided to leave before Fleetwood Mac came on stage, we gave them a standing ovation and smoked a cigarette. That twenty dollar ticket was worth every penny!

My first concert was Journey and it was nice although I was suprised how loud it was.
My first concert was at a small venue at our local fair grounds, Lynyard Skynyard and Styxs were headlining. Neither band was or is something I listen to on a regular basis, so it was an experience. However I did have fun and when the song Freebird was played I did get chills.

The first concert I ever saw was the Beach Boys in San Diego that should say a little something about my age. I had a blast those guys sure do belt out the tunes. I'll never forget it.

My first concert was when I was living in Germany. It was one of those all day festivals (with the Scorpions headlining, of course)!! My girlfriend and I each told our parents we were spending the night at each other's house and had a blast!! Of course, I do NOT condone any of that behavior today as it is quite a different time now than it was then!!! :0)
