What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

My first concert was a memorable one. :)

My girlfriend had two tickets to a spanish band in Las Vegas. I didn't understand one word the band was singing but had a good time anyway. :)

My first concert was a New Kids on the Block concert at a theme park in California! I was about 13 and the audience was a mass of teenager girls! It was pretty fantastic. I think somewhere I still have blurry photos of the stage, in which you can BARELY see 5 images dancing! :)

My first concert was ZZ Top in a small venue before they were well-known. My parents let me go on a school night. I remember how exciting it was to see a live band.

My first real concert was in the mid-1960s seeing the Beach Boys, riding their Vespa scooters on stage and looking and sounding fresh and fun fun fun.

My first concert was a Christian music concert with Steve Green and others sharing their gospel songs. It was great!

First concert.....Bon Jovi with Skid Row as the opening act. I won the tickets on my 16th birthday, and my sister and I went to the concert the next night. It was her first concert, too. We had such a blast!

Elton John at the Santa Monica Civic. He played for 4 hours and it was the best concert I have ever been to.

My first concert was a country concert -- Brooks & Dunn to be specific. My aunt and uncle took me, because they knew the lead guitarist at the time. I was about 12 years old, so that was pretty much the coolest thing I'd ever seen up until that point. I remember the music was so loud I thought my eardrums would bust, and about midway through the show, I got drenched with beer!

My first concert was to see and hear the Boston Pops. I went with my parents on their anniversary. This concert was my introduction to classical music, and it started me on the road to playing in an orchestra, and to love the music of the masters.
