What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

I've never been to a concert. Lame, I know. I did see Tracy Lawrence at a local country bar before I was even old enough to drink but that's the closest I've ever come to a concert. Thank you!

I went to a Eddie Rabbit concert, it was raining , he came out and sang "Love A Rainy Night"Then explained he didn't want to be out there with all the equipent and water and chance of shock. We waited quite awhile and then they had the rest of the concert, it was great.

my first concert was Prince and the Time when I was 16 in the 80's. A bed appeared on the stage and Prince sang on it. Definitely something I had never seen before!

The 1st concert I went to was to see Tina Turner with my parents. I'm almost positive it was the summer of 1993 when I was 14.

It's 1984, I'm stationed in Indianapolis and as a graduation present for making through the radio and television program at the Defense Information School, a friend bought tickets for us to see John Cougar Mellencamp. It was amazing seeing my first concert and having it be my absolute favorite singer at the time. It seemed like he played for hours, but I was so mesmerized it could have only been 45 minutes. Just thinking about that concert makes me smile. :o)

The first concert I went to happened to be "The Mamas and The Papas" in Pennsylvania in the 60's. The opening act was a couple not well known- just starting out. I really enjoyed them and was not suprized that they became very popular. A duo called "Sonny and Cher"! How awesome!!!
