What Memories Do You Have from Your First Concert?

By: Caitlin Goebel (View Profile)

Let’s take it back to the fifth grade. It’s my best friend’s birthday. The night started out with all of us going over to her house. We did each others make-up, picked out the “perfect” outfits and practiced the lyrics over and over again until we had them memorized. As we walked through the doors of the Rose Garden Arena we felt ten times older than we were. All five of us including her mom stood up a little taller than normal. We took our seats and then the music started “Ohhhhh … I’m just a girl …” the crowd went crazy. The lights, the sound, the audience, lit up and didn’t stop for two hours. We felt like we were on top of the world and all grown up.

Everyone has vivid memories about the first concert they’ve ever gone to. Whether it was Michael Jackson, Eddie Money, or Poison, chime in to tell us the first concert you went to.

My first concert was to see Stevie Ray Vaughn. I remember the people in front of us saying that they were there to see the opening act - geez, seeing a legend and you prefer the lame opener!

In the 1970s, I was friends with a young man that owned a bright yellow Porsche. He let me drive it down US 101 at top speed all the way to Los Angeles for an Elton John concert. It was so much fun driving with my waist long hair blowing in the breeze. We had so much fun at the concert. It was is first concert and Elton put on an incredible show.

My first concert was an outdoor concert in Michigan. The Beach Boys and Chicago were fantastic. I was surprised at how loud it was even though it was outside. I think I was still yelling at people for a week. Those were the days!

Do I seriously have to confess this? It was Paula Abdul and the real reason I went was because I loved Color Me Badd and they were opening up for her. She actually put on a pretty entertaining show and she was funny too and Color Me Badd was good too. I wouldn't pay 10 cents to see either one of them now though....lol.

My first 'real' concert (meaning, not tagging along with my parents to see Iron Butterfly :P) was to see The Cure. The experience was just so surreal. My boyfriend and I at the time, had the most amazing seats.. while it was in the dead of summer and the air was still, none of that mattered. The show was magic and it's to this day, the best concert I've ever been to!

My 1st concert was Cinderella and White Lion, I think it was in 1989. My husband, boyfriend at the time, pawned our VCR to get the money to go see them, LOL! It was an awesome concert!

My first concert was when I was 16 and my dad was working security at a Lover Boy concert
and I had front row tickets. The band was wonderful and so was the backstage pass when mike Reno gave me kiss I swear I would not wash off. I am now 45 and still remember that night when that moment was frozen in time.

Way back in the '70's I saw the one and only Elton John. The music was unbelievable, and the costumes and glasses he wore back then were wild! I had a blast!
