Fear of Crafting

By: Sarah Sibley (View Profile)

I hate feeling that just because I am a woman, an independent spirit, an urban dweller, and love my non-traditional lifestyle, that people automatically assume I should be a crafter. I don’t want to!! Leave me alone. I don’t want to knit one or pearl two. I don’t want to stitch or bitch. I don’t want to sew in a circle. Can’t we all just live in peace? Crafters and non-crafters?

On a side note, I’ll take anything you make. Please. Thanks.

Great story. I feel the same way. I have no desire to join a knitting circle or go on a scrapbooking weekend. I'd rather go on a hike or lounge at a pool with that time.

Totally agree. When some of my friends got into it, I thought I wanted to start knitting too. Then I realized I was just kidding myself and actually was falling into a sort of peer knitting pressure! Thank God I have yet to prick myself and frankly, don't plan anytime soon either. Nonetheless, kudos to all those who can knit. It is a skill I will never be able to master.
