And what about boys? “The goal isn’t to shut men out of the process—we have men embracing our educational mission.” But boys cannot apply. Men, however, can be faculty members or members of the Board. And what about the science? “Our program puts girls in real and meaningful science projects that are about working together in the community.”

I asked Pam where she thought most of her funding was coming from to support the science, the coast, and the girls.

 

“Definitely by networking with individuals, which is no surprise,” she said.
