I just read about how the Case Foundation is testing whether citizen-led philanthropy on the Web works. Members of the Causes section of Facebook entered a contest to win money for their favorite charities, provided by Case. Prizes go to charities which are able to attract the greatest unique donors rather than those that raise the most money. Do you use the Web to donate? How useful do you think the Web can be for raising money?
