I just had the honor and privilege of seeing Lucinda Williams at the Paramount Theater last night. What an electrifying and amazing show! Sure, I’d heard her record “Chrome Wheels on a Gravel Road” when it came out a few years ago—which I liked—but not much else. How could I have been missing out on her wonderful songwriting and incredible band? Her music is a distinctive blend of country, rock, blues and her voice is like the love child of Janis Joplin and Neil Young (picture it if you can!). She left such an impression on me that I can instantly recognize her songs on the CD as I’m listening to them now. Her new record is West—do yourself a favor and go buy it RIGHT NOW! Seriously, you’ll thank me later.
