Hope for the Journey through Cancer

by Yuonne Ortega

Fleming H. Revell

October is breast cancer awareness month and before this month ends I would like to highlight a book I was given. You might be like me and think, why should I read this book? Well let me give you some information on why this is a must read book.

Who gets breast cancer?

All women are at risk for breast cancer. Known risk factors like having a family history of breast cancer, starting menopause after age 55 or never having children account for only a small number of new breast cancer cases every year. That means that most women who get breast cancer have no known risk factors except being a woman and getting older. (source Koman.org)

So if you are a woman and you are getting older, you have a risk of contacting breast cancer.

Ortega's books is a sixty day journey looking for hope in the midst of cancer. But don't be fooled, this book is not just for the one who HAS cancer, but for family members and friends who are helping someone through breast cancer. Ortega is open and honest about her fears, her pain, depression, and having to relying on others. God took each of these areas and gives Ortega HOPE.

Each devotional begins with a “Hope Builder” which is the bible reading for each day. She displays real honesty and humility right from the first page until you finish the last. I found I could not put this book down, I kept it in my car and read it while waiting for my kids to get out of school, it was that good.

I strongly recommend this book to each person who knows someone going through a medical crisis. I promise you this book will bless whoever reads it.

Eat healthy all the time. I will do wonders for you. Cancer is a high stress illness. Deal with the stresses and get balance back in your life. Go to the breast cancer offices where they help woman and get a card for breast check on the bottom they have a breast that has 2 tumors in it to learn what is the feel of a lump when it has turned cancer or is on its way and it isIMPARITIVE YOU SEE YOUR DOCTOR IMEDIATLEY!!! A Surgen! they are really good to learn and will help you to know what is going on and will do the tests he needs to do to do the best treatment and surgery for YOU!!! Don't fool around with all other doctors, go to the surgen. you are not over shooting and you will have that doctor who is really trained to know test and watch over you to make sure what happened to me won't happen to you. LOOK FOR A GOOD SURGEN THAT YOU FEEL REALLY COMFORTABLE & OPEN UP WITH. Stock up on Rita's itialian whater ice and sherbert they will be the only thing that will stay down at times.

chest wall cavity. The cancer cells will go neon with this medicine. yes it is a poison they say. One that is safe enough to put in front of the breast. It won't hurt to put it behind your chest. It is working for you not against you like cancer.4 or 6 years into recovery you will have better chances of not having lung cancer. The neuro med should be infront and behind your breast. 5. Take time to appreciate life in ways that mean the most to you. sometimes alone also It helps you to deal better with your own mortality. Journaling helps also. Journaling magazines has really good articles on dealing with illness and through anger. It works. Most importantly God's gift to you is your life, Your gift back to him is what you do with it. Talk to God, Make the changes you may need to make or want to make. Remember...We are all carved in the palm of God's hand. Get a dr. that will talk /you and tell you why they chose the Tx, they did over other ones. We Are All Individuals so is our cancer.

I had breast cancer in the year of 2001. I learned many things in the course of things. These things every woman should know and should do. They are really very easy. 1. Everyone should do a breast exam weekly. reason is the breast according to what time of the month it is you may not be able to feel a lump.(esp if you are swelling for your period). 2. Everyone should eat as many anti oxidents as possible this keeps the body healthy in alot of cases. 3. Listen to your body. If you feel there is something is wrong then keep going to a doctor till you get one to take you seriously. The first one I went to did a half check on me to apease me and told me to come back in 2yrs. unless it got bigger. Well 1 1/2 years later I had 3 tumors and they all the sudden were huge, one was invasive (leaking into the breast) I lost my breast. I found a really good dr. to late. When they put the neuro med prior to surgery, have them put it behind your breast to keep the cancer from getting onto the
